Kyle de Tarnowsky (b. 1985) grew up in a small Vermont town outside of Burlington. He began his musical training at an early age, studying piano privately with Elaine Greenfield. Private study on the clarinet soon followed, along with jazz piano study and personal study of the saxophone and flute. Three summers at the Hartwick College Summer Music Festival & Institute in New York cemented his passion for the music profession, and it was during these summers that Kyle discovered his love of both composition and conducting. Private study in each would follow at both the high school and college level.

Kyle earned his B.M. in Music Composition from Florida State University, where his primary composition instructor was Ladislav Kubik. He also pursued both conducting and the clarinet while at FSU, performing in and conducting numerous groups, some of his own creation. During his time at FSU, Kyle was also given the opportunity to score numerous student films, including an MFA candidate's thesis project. Following his graduation from FSU, Kyle entered the University of Southern California's esteemed Scoring for Motion Pictures & Television program, which he completed in 2008. While at USC, Kyle had the opportunity to work with and be mentored by some of the industry's leading music professionals, including composer Alan Silvestri and orchestrator/arranger Brad Dechter.

Currently, Kyle resides in Los Angeles, where he is working on various short films and doing other music work. He recently orchestrated cues for John Debney's score to Paramount Pictures' "Hotel for Dogs."
